Perfortuna arrivano altre promo per Brandy. Il suo album staziona alla 69 della billboard chart, ha superato le 100′000 copie vendute, tuttavia il primo singolo “Right Here” che ha peakkato alla 34 della billboard hot100, l’ha fatto troppo tardi per sortire effetti positivi sulle vendite. Ora le speranze sono riposte su “Long Distance” che però pare riscuotere poco successo nel ramo urban, in quanto troppo “ballata pop” per il pubblico Black! Speriamo che il terzo estratto possa essere un pezzo come “Piano Man” o “1st And Love” adattissime per tornare a fare splendere la Brandy nella R&B Chart! E speriamo anche che “Long Distance” si riveli un successo in pop come hit da Crossover…. solo così le sorti di questo prezioso disco potranno essere cambiate per evitare un flop! Molto difficile, tifo per te B-Rocka.
Pare che la etichetta spinga su “True”, mentre fanbase e Brandy stessa puntano su “Piano Man” una uptempo. Secondo me proseguire con un’altra piano song lenta sarebbe un suicidio, tuttavia non sono convinto che “Piano Man” sia la riposta giusta per risollevare le sorti.. voi che canzone scegliereste?

L’ultimo sforzo di Brandy “Human” benchè sia uno dei migliori dischi del 2008 è stato sotterrato male nelle vendite delle prime settimane. Dopo la release sono state rilasciate e leakkate delle canzoni registrare per il progetto ma scartate. Si tratta perlopiù di produzioni di Brian Kennedy, ed anche questi pezzi sono veramente molto validi!
Il suo secondo singolo “Long Distance” sta dormendo nell’airplay urban, sembra infatti che il pezzo risulti troppo Pop per le radio Black americane! Una piano-ballad potente, che però ha ancora tutto il tempo per fare scintille in Pop dove non è ancora stata aggiunta alle playlist ufficiali!

La Billboard 200 questa settimana è dominata da Taylor Swift che con il suo nuovo album “Fearless” sta ottenendo davvero un grande successo. Al secondo posto c’è Britney Spears con “Circus”, il disco nella seconda settimana di release ha venduto 200 mila copie nel mercato americano con un decremento del 60%.
Resiste bene Beyonce, “I Am…Sasha Fierce” questa settimana ha venduto 159 mila copie, piazzandosi subito dopo Britney al terzo posto della Chart. Resiste bene anche Kanye West che in settimana ha piazzato sul mercato 126 mila copie dell’album “808’s & Heartbreak”.

Nuova location, nuovo Jingle Ball, ci troviamo a Camden nel New Jersey dove Radio Q102 ha organizzato un concerto natalizio. Ormai questi Jingle Ball spuntano come funghi, ogni giorno ce n’è uno nuovo…All’evento hanno partecipato Nicole Scherzinger e le altre Dolls, Katy Perry, Brandy, Shontelle, Lady Gaga, Jesse McCartney, Kevin Rudolf, David Archuleta ed altri ancora. In questo periodo i concerti di natale organizzati dalle maggiori radio internazionali sono veramente parecchi, tutti targati Jingle Ball. L’ultimo in ordine di tempo è quello organizzato al Madison Sqare Garden di New York da Z100.
All’evento hanno partecipato molte star del music biz tra le quali troviamo Kanye West, Rihanna, Chris Brown, Katy Perry, Leona Lewis , Ne-Yo, Brandy e Lady Gaga. In una recente intervista Chris ha affermato di aver scritto alcuni canzoni per la sua girlfriend, che saranno probabilmente contenute nel nuovo album della cantante.

Il 1° Novembre a New York, Janet Jackson sembra aver concluso il suo RockWitchu Tour... infatti le date che erano state “sospese” per la sua malattia non verranno recuperate! Un brutto colpo per l’immagine della diva, infatti in diversi fans di grandi Città dovranno recuperare i soldi tramite i rivenditori (anche io che avevo un ticket per la data di Ft.Lauderdale)!

Anche se io non avrei scommesso molto sul primo singolo “Right Now (Na Na Na)” estratto dal nuovo album di Akon, il pezzo ha debuttato alla posizione numero 17 della Billboard Hot 100 grazie a più di 93 mila download da iTunes. Staremo a vedere quanto salirà ancora nelle prossime settimane, intanto è già stato realizzato il secondo singolo, si tratta della midtempo intitolata “I’m So Paid” cantata in collaborazione con Lil Wayne.
Anche in questo pezzo la semplicità regna sovrana, ma il brano è veramente carino e orecchiabile ed entra subito in testa. E’ stata inoltre confermata la release date di “Freedom”, terzo studio album del rapper, che uscirà il 25 novembre e visto il buon andamento del singolo per ora è stata scartata l’ idea di un posticipo.

Benchè manchi un giorno e qualche ora alla release ufficiale del pezzo sul Myspace ufficiale di Christina della Milian, il primo singolo “Us Against The World” è stato appena leakkato. Si tratta di una ballata molto carina e piacevole prodotta ma Madd Scientist, dunque anche Christina si mette in gioco in questo periodo molto pericoloso perchè fitto di release.
 
Il pezzo è sicuramente un buon prodotto dalle sonorità “cinematografica” come aveva affermato lei stessa, ma forse mi aspettavo di più da un ritorno come questo dopo oltre due anni di assenza.

Canterbury Scene-United Kingdom“The most important band among all those born in Canterbury was SOFT MACHINE. The band emerged in 1967 as the quartet of Robert WYATT (drums, vocals), Mike RATLEDGE (keyboards), Kevin AYERS (bass, vocals) and Daevid ALLEN (guitar, vocals). For the next few years, through a number of personel changes, consequently their sound has changed constantly over the years of their existence. This band would assist in the emergence of the Canterbury Sound (CARAVAN, MATCHING MOLE, EGG, HATFIELD & THE NORTH, and many more). Many careers began with SOFT MACHINE: Robert WYATT (MATCHING MOLE band and solo artist), Kevin AYERS (later his own WHOLE WORLD band and solo artist), and Daevid ALLEN (later GONG and solo artist). For their lines brilliant instrumentalists like Hugh HOPPER, Mike RATLEDGE, Elton DEAN, Allan HOLDSWORTH, Andy SUMMERS, Roy BABBINGTON, John MARSHALL and Karl JENKINS happened, and through their career they left us a series of albums.Now, briefly - what is the music like? The SOFT MACHINE were, for many listeners, the standard against which all jazz-rock fusions, including most of the big American names, had to be measured. They blended traditional jazz with modern rock sensibilities, tainting this mixture with heavy abstract stylings. SOFT MACHINE’s first three albums contain the best of their work. The first album is very much in the psyche vein. “Volume Two” is mainly psychedelic, adding a complex jazzy style to the psych jamming of the first album. “Third″ is a transitional album with one clearly psych piece “Moon in June” (the last sample of WYATT’s singing with the band) and the rest being more jazz-fusion with some psychedelica touches. This album is a good introduction to the early SOFT MACHINE.”Four″ is more jazzy, less dramatic and cooler than “Third″. On “5,6,7″, the fusion would become more prominent as the psychedelica fades more and more on each subsequent album and eventually disappears altogether. If you’re only having one try “Third″ … even if you don’t like that one, go ahead and try “Six” also. “The Untouchable Soft Machine” is a compilation of 78 minutes of music on one disc, you can buy this one and forget about “Bundles” and after. Fans of “weird″ start with a very experimental album called “Spaced″ that was done as backing tapes to a multi-media performance in 1969. “Virtually″ and “Noisette” are essential live recordings from 1970-1971 period.
