Status Quo é uma banda britânica formada em 1962. É composta por Francis Rossi (guitarra, vocalista), Alan Lancaster (baixo), Rick Parfitt (guitarra, vocalista) e John Coghlan (bateria). Tocam um Hard Rock primário, sem grandes artificios mas muito eficiente. A sua formação, e o nome, só estabilizam em 1967, tendo o seu primeiro single “Pictures Of Matchstick Men” em 1968 sido um grande sucesso. Em 1981 sai John Coghlan e em 1985 sai Alan Lancaster, mas o grupo mantém-se em cena, tendo participado no Live Aid.
“Status Quo, also known as The Quo or just Quo, are an English rock band whose music is characterised by a strong boogie line. The group’s origins were in “The Scorpions” founded by schoolboys Francis Rossi and Alan Lancaster in 1962. After several line up changes, the band become “The Status Quo” in late 1967, and finally settled on the name “Status Quo” in 1970. They have recorded over 60 chart hits in the UK, more than any other rock group in history.”
